CNA Program
Certified Nursing Assistants (C.N.A.) are in demand for their functions which are vital to daily operations and patient care. Under the supervision of the registered and vocational nurses, C.N.A.'s provide assistance and care to those unable to care for themselves.
Becoming a certified nursing assistant guarantees you an interesting, challenging job. Being a certified nursing assistant is a great way to advance in the growing medical field. A certified nursing assistant has the opportunities to work in hospitals, nursing homes, hospices and in private homes.
Successful completion of this program prepares students for the State Nurse Assistant Certification Exam. The C.N.A. certification exam is designed to evaluate the knowledge, skills and abilities required to safely perform the job of a nursing assistant.
The programs consists of 56 lecture hours + 104 externship laboratory hours.
You will learn:
- Legal and ethical aspects related to nursing and nursing care.
- To perform basic care such as feeding, bathing, dressing, and providing oral care.
- To perform technical skills such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and assisting with mobility.
- Basic Anatomy and Physiology.
- Common diseases and disorders and their signs and symptoms.
- To document information as part of patient's legal records.
- Basic Medical terminology necessary for communicating with the other members of the healthcare team.
