Dental Laboratory Technician


Program Objective
The objective of this program is to familiarize students and educate them on the human mouth: morphology, utilization of the dental impression to prepare working models, and ultimately fabricate dental prosthesis, including the procedures for carving the crowns, bridges, and roots in a suitable material such as wax compound, investing, casting, and finishing the metal restorations. Educate the student in definite procedures for building, contouring and shaping porcelain crowns that are fused to metal substructures made in suitable materials, such as ceramic porcelain. To complete this program successfully, a student is required to complete a total of 720 hours consisting of 155 hours of classroom instruction and 565hours of laboratory time.

Model and Die Technician Program
The objective of this program is to educate students on the human mouth morphology, utilization of dental impressions to prepare working models, and ultimately fabricate dental prosthesis.

To complete this program successfully, a student is required to complete a total of 110 hours consisting of 47 hours of classroom lecture and 63 hours of laboratory time.
Upon completion of this program, the student will be certified as a Model & Die Technician, with the knowledge required to attain a job at a laboratory specializing in fixed prosthodontics production, e.g. crown and bridge.

Wax and Metal Technician Program
The objective of this program is to familiarize students in a definite procedure for carving the crowns, bridges, and roots in a suitable material such as, wax compound, investing, casting, and finishing the metal cast restorations.

To complete this program successfully, a student is required to complete a total of 300 hours consisting of 61 hours of classroom lecture and 239 hours of laboratory time.
Upon completion of this program, the student will be certified as Wax and Metal Technician, with the knowledge required obtaining a job at a laboratory specializing in fixed prosthesis production, e.g. crown and bridge.

Ceramic Technician Program
The objective of this program is to familiarize students in definite procedures for building, contouring, and shaping porcelain crowns that are fused to metal substructures using suitable materials, such as ceramic porcelain.

To complete this program successfully, a student is required to complete a total of 310 hours consisting of 47 hours of classroom lecture and 263 hours of laboratory time.
Upon completion of this program, the student will be certified as a Ceramic Technician, with the knowledge required to attain a job at a laboratory specializing in fixed prosthesis production, e.g. crown and bridge.
